After seven months of postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Qualifiers in
South America will begin with the clash between Peru and Paraguay, a duel that
has already occurred five times during Ricardo Gareca's cycle and where the
bicolor always won. One of those games took place in a setting that will be
like this Wednesday. For the same contest and in the same town, the visitors
achieved a 1-4, a result with which they won for the first time in Asunción.
In the Peruvian
National Team, there are no major doubts regarding the formation with which
they will face the match. The defensive sector would be the same that could
develop since the last Copa América. In that sense, those who would be in the
observation are the components of the left sector, since both Luis Abram and
Miguel Trauco have not played official matches in their clubs for months due to
the pandemic.
One of the main novelties in Gareca's proposal will be in the
middle sector. The inclusion of a third midfielder gained strength in the
technical command, being Pedro Aquino who would join Renato Tapia and Yoshimar
Yotún, three players who started in the friendly with a victory in the United
States against Brazil.
André Carrillo and Christian Cueva are constant in the national offense, which will back Raúl Ruidíaz, the top scorer in Seattle Sounders who will seek to translate this into the national team after the absence of Paolo Guerrero. Jefferson Farfán is part of the delegation and will be among the 23 eligible footballers, although the strategist would reserve it for the course of the commitment.
